All along the California coast there are creeks and rivers that flow into the Pacific Ocean. Where the two waterways meet, there are often lagoons created. These shallow pools of water are constantly utilized by seabirds like this Brown Pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis) which will use it to bath and be safe from predators.
