Brown Pelicans
Brown Pelican Taking Flight from Creek at Sunset, Big Sur, California
A good friend and I were photographing landscapes in Big Sur. He recommended that we check out this beach for sunset pictures. There was a creek flowing into the ocean and Brown Pelicans (Pelecanus occidentalis) were routinely bathing in the freshwater and would subsequently take flight back to the salt water of the ocean. Even though my friend is mainly a landscape photographer even he could not resist taking pictures of these beautiful birds in amazing light.
