Brown Pelicans and Moon
Like many other North American birds, Brown Pelicans (Pelecanus occidentalis) are migratory. They fly south during the winter months to breed on tropical islands. In late winter and early spring they return north. These three individuals were flying along the coast, heading north to more productive fishing grounds. This image always makes me wonder how many miles each of them have already flown in their lifetime.
