Juvenile Laysan Albatrosses (Phoebastria immutabilis) have to exercise their wing muscles for their long journeys ahead. This juvenile would jump into the air and flap his wings when gusts of wind hit the beach. Mentally, he was ready to leave, having come to the beach from the inner part of the island. With a few more wing pumps he would soon leave the island and not return for seven months.
