California Wildlife Photography Workshops and Tours
December 13th-16th, 2018 – Marin County, California
Want to photograph bobcats in the wild? We will spend three and a half days looking for these elusive felines in the coastal area of Marin county, in nothern California. Limited to four people, to make sure we can have intimate encounters with these incredible animals.
June 22nd, 2019 – Point Reyes National Seashore, California
We will photograph the amazing and endemic Tule Elk for a full day in Point Reyes. The animals should be starting their rut, which will allow us to see males posturing, calling, possibly fighting, all in the beautiful setting of the California coast. There will also be a high chance of getting close to Coyotes and Bobcats!
June 23rd, 2019 – Moss Landing, California
Want to photograph sea otters from both land and sea? We will spend a full day capturing portraits, hopefully mothers and their pups, and bachelor groups of sea otters from both land and sea. Limited to eight people, giving everyone freedom to move around the large boat!
September 28th-October 5th, 2019 – Berkshires, Massachusetts
This workshop is for photographers wanting to learn the technique of SLR camera traps. This will enable you to get those wide-angle, “animal in its habitat” shots that are impossible to get with telephoto lenses, and will allow you to pursue getting images of hard to see species.
International Wildlife Photography Tours
December 3rd-8th, 2018 -Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica
Come photograph monkeys, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and lots of other critters with me and the hilarious Roy Toft.
July 19th – April 7th-14th, 2019
Call them pumas, mountain lions, cougars, shadowcats, catamounts, or panthers, these are incredible wild cats and we will photograph them, in the wild, in Patagonia. This is by far one of my favorite trips. Make it yours as well!
July 19th – August 3rd, 2019 – Malaysian Borneo
Borneo hosts five species of wild cat, including leopard cat, marbled cat, bay cat, flat-headed cat, and Sunda clouded leopard. The goal of the trip is to find and photograph as many of these elusive felines as we can.
Private Photography Lessons in northern Berkshires, New England
I offer private lessons for people around western Massachusetts, southern Vermont, or northeast New York (I am located in Williamstown, MA) who need help with their photography skills. This generally means that we first assess your strength and what you would like to improve on. Please do not feel reluctant because you are completely new to photography, everyone started at that same point.
Lessons are generally field based where we focus on specific aspects of photography, and may be followed by editing sessions on the computer. I usually give lessons on an hour-to-hour basis since people learn and take in material in different ways. I am of course always happy to do a whole day lesson as well.
Please feel free to contact me if you need help with any of these:
-Basic Camera Operations
-Camera versus Lens functions
-Exposure (Shutter Speed, Aperture, ISO)
-Depth of Field, Hyperfocal Distance
-Focusing (including fast moving subjects)
-External Flash, Fill Flash
Price: $100 per hour
